Obituary of Joseph Lombardo Sr.

Joseph Lombardo Sr., a restaurant owner and longtime resident of Bedford Hills, passed away on Tuesday at Rosary Hill in Hawthorne, at the age of 97.
Mr. Lombardo had lived in Bedford Hills for 30 years. He was born on August 16, 1913, to Giovanna and Giuseppe Lombardo in Reggio Calabria, Italy. In 1929, Joseph immigrated to the Unites States. He was predeceased by Catherine, his loving wife of 57 years, and was the proud father of Joseph (Sondra) Lombardo Jr., and the cherished grandfather to Jennifer (David) DePasquale and Joseph (Kara) Lombardo III. He adored his great grandchildren Michael and Derek DePasquale and Joseph Lombardo IV. Joseph is also survived by his sister, Ida Crea and brother, Guerino Lombardo and several nieces and nephews.
On January 9, 1946, Joseph received an honorable discharge from the United States Army, after proudly serving his country in World War II. He continued his patriotism as the oldest active member of the American Legion - Moses Taylor Jr. Post 136 in Mt. Kisco.
Friends may call at the Oelker-Cox and Sinatra Funeral Home, 262 Main St., Mt. Kisco, on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church (Katonah) on Friday at 10 am. Interment at St. Francis Cemetery (Mt. Kisco). In lieu of flowers, donations preferred to the Rosary Hill Home (600 Linda Ave., Hawthorne, NY 10532).
