Architecture Class of '91. Mr Swetz and I had an extraordinary relationship. I was the only girl in his class so he tried to protect me and was always there to listen and help me through the tough times of growing up. I will never forget him as he helped shape me into who I am today. My deepest sympathy to his family and friends.

Although it's been years since I've seen him, my friends and I still talk about Mr. Swetz often, and we will continue to relive all the great moments we had in his class.

Never was I as excited to build, to create, to transform as I did in his class. I graduated from Saunders in 2000 and I have always kept him in my thoughts. Hearing of this news is sad, but it made me remember how important he made me feel and how i just couldnt wait to finish a project to start another. I continued off to college in the same direction as he did- but professors are not the same as a teacher. I am very sorry I never saw him again, and I hope he knows what an impact he made on the lives of the people he taught. Thank you for educating our lives.

"Come Hither, students!" That was his cue when the class needs to be quiet and listen to him. Mr. Swetz has to be one of the coolest teachers. All of us respected him and treated him like our father. He inspired me so much. I remember his last pep rally back in 2007. He really outdid himself. He played James Bond and danced too! The senior of that year actually won first place. If we needed help with our drafts, he actually did it for us. His brother was sometimes in class too Mr. Swetz was a really good brother. I witnessed his love for his brother when he picked him up from his work and brought him to our class. Overall, our class was so fun and easy. He made my high school so memorable. After college, I still saw him around. Even though he was sick and fighting his health issues, he still gave me advice about college and life. I was concerned of his health and told him that when I graduate as a nurse, he will be my patient. He just smiled and wished me the best. Thank you, Mr. Swetz. Rest in peace.

Donald, was the architect for our renovation 5 years ago. He brought a wonderful insights to the design, and introduced us to our contractor (one of his students). There was such a fond bond between them that can only exist when the teacher is a great mentor. It was a privilege to work with Donald again recently for the second phase of our renovation, and meet another of his students. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family,
Jennifer and Philip Upton

I was in Mr.Swetz class of 06 at Saunders high school and he was always there for me during my high school career. He was a great teacher and treated our class like his kids I remember when he didn't want to stay in the building and just decided us to take us on a field trip through the neighborhood because after all as architecture majors the world was our field every building was once a design. I also remember how mad he was that I missed the architecture final which was 3 credits toward college for architecture and I was convinced and stubborn and wasnt going into architecture and haven't but still think about all the things he taught me. I will cherish my architecture binder and the rough drafts that I still have. You were a great teacher and a amazing human being who was full of love laughter and a smile who always welcomed me with love and joy even when I waited til the last minute to do my project. Mr. Swetz the world just lost a true angel when you left this earth but I'm sure you will be rewarded in heaven. Thank you for the memories and thank you for being there for me you will be truly missed but never forgotten. RIP Mr. Swetz

We bought Don's house on Delaware Road back in 2004 and have remained close here in the Homefield neighborhood ever since. We saw Don down at the Halloween party just weeks ago and we are sorry to hear of his passing.

Mr. Swetz was my Architecture teacher when I went to Saunders from '83-'87. He guided me, mentored me and inspired me. Although I hadn't spoken to him in quite some time, I thought of him often and fondly. God Bless you and rest in peace.
