Beanie, words cannot express how I feel about losing my dear friend. You amazed me with the strength and dignity you showed in fighting this horrible illness. Our Dear Niece Joanne,
Words cannot express our deep sadness of losing you, but we also rejoice in the happy years we shared with you. We watched you, Linda, Gina, and Susan grow up together and play together from childhood. Our families were always close to each other and shall always be. Sleep now dear niece next to your cousin and may you both be together in heaven. Thank you for always asking and caring about us. We will love and miss you always.

Dear Linda and Family,
Our sympathy to all of you at this very sad time. We have many wonderful memories of Joanne, as kids on Leland Ave in the Bronx, scratch tickle and rub! Fort Hill and our house on Remsen to name a few. When we tap into memories we find a comfort from the joy they bring. That's how we would like to remember Joanne, happy, joyful, and laughing. May our Lord and Savior greet her at Heavens gates, May she be at Peace reunited with your loved ones gone before you, and may you all find comfort in the arms of your loved ones. Joanne will always be your special angel in Heaven.
God Bless we will be with all of you in Spirit during this sad time.
Our Love, Joyce and Linda

Cuz (aka Annabelle-lee),
My heart is broken. I have lost another sister. I will never forget all the good times we shared as kids; the sleepovers with "scratch-tingle-and rub), Candlewood Lake, and the Fore-and-Aft. You gave me the honor of being my Maid of Honor and my son, Eddie's Godmother. We had so many good times with so much of our unique laughter and humor that only you and I could ever understand. You were my Casino partner when I felt the urge to go. As I told you; I never knew a person with so much courage and strength as you. You fought this terrible disease with everything you had, but in the end God wanted another angel. Rest in peace sweet Cuz of mine. Be with your best friend, Gina again. I will always love you and you will always be in my heart forever. Love Susan aka Susabelle-lee XXXXOOOO

Hi Joanne, We know you are relaxing, listening to your favorite music, sunning in a beautiful lounge chair, laughing, joking and overlooking an amazing Pool. And after the sun sets, you head over to the 'Garden Area' eat, drink and laugh til the dawn breaks. This is what you loved at 'Riveredge' and this is how we will always remember our Friend and neighbor. You are part of the Sun and Stars that we see every day and night, shining brightly, looking over us, smiling and letting us know you are 'Free and Happy'. Til we meet again, save us two chairs next to you! Love 4-ever, Fran and Andy.

Mom "aka Mother",
Let me start off by saying it was a miracle finding you after 34 years. I never thought we would meet. Thank God Gina told me to sign up on International Soundex Reunion Registry. You are one of the most innovative, out-of-the-box thinkers I've ever met (the "co-founder of colored concrete"!) I will make sure you get credit for that idea!;) You filled a place in my heart that I never thought would be filled. I just hope we (The Schlagels) did the same for you. Please look over Gianna as her special angel and instill your wisdom into our little girl. I will always keep your spirit alive when she grows up and asks "Who was Grandma Beans? and what was she like?" I will never have a shopping buddy like you! Love, your son, Mark
p.s. if anyone would like to make a donation in Joanne's memory, I think she would have liked it for the International Soundex Reunion Registry ISRR.org. It is the organization, staffed only by volunteers, most of them birth mothers, that helps reunite family members, at no charge. Thank you.

My dear sweet Joanne, words could never express what you have meant and will always mean to us. Finding you was one of the most happy, exciting and special experiences of my life. Getting to know you was the best, because to know Joanne is to love Joanne. Your huge heart, sincere laugh, quirky sense of humor, independent spirit, selflessness, strength, passion for life, unconditional love, and smile that lit up a room will Never be forgotten. Your beautiful spirit will live on through Mark and Gianna. She has your playfulness, intelligence, and stubbornness!;) I'm so sorry that you suffered, I hope your spirit soars now, free of that horrible disease. You deserve more than any of us here could give you, I hope you are at peace now and feel our love and gratitude always. I will remember you as you were before you got sick, and will keep your memory alive by telling Gianna how special her "Gramma Beans" was. Love always and missing you terribly, "daughter in law" Gina ("Gino";) xoxo

Joanne...one of my oldest and dearest friends. We have been friends since grammar school. I have many wonderful memories, especially when we were teenagers. I remember going to Candlewood Lake with your family, working together at Finast, and I remember the Corvair!
We may have lost our connection over the years, but we were reunited just in time. It was wonderful seeing you, talking to you, and hearing all about Mark, Gina and Gianna. Your face lit up when you spoke of them!!
I will cherish our friendship. You were sweet and unassuming - always happy for everyone's joys and successes. You loved your family...adored your sister and were so proud of your nephews and their families.
You fought the fight with dignity and grace. You taught us all patience and perseverance and most of all...to value each day.
Rest in peace, my dear friend. I will miss you and love you always.
Ginny

Sister,
I watched you fight this disease for so many years. You tried to hide your pain and suffering from everyone. You were always so strong, never gave in, always kept going for the gold.
You are the strong one, Sister. Now you are free. No more suffering -- only beautiful angels to guide you to a better place and to be with Gina again.
I love you Sister.
