Gabriel C. Manganiello passed away Monday morning, July 15th at his home surrounded by his family after a long-term illness, he was 86. Gabriel was born on March 1, 1927 to Antonio and Orlanda (Russo) Manganiello in Avellino, Italy. He was one of eleven children. He came to the United States in 1963 and settled in Mount Vernon. After coming to the United States Gabriel worked independently in construction. He then worked as a mason for the Mount Vernon Department of Public Works. He also established and owned four separate pizzeria restaurants until his retirement. He is survived by his loving and caring wife Maria of 58 years, his daughters Josephine and Diane, his sons Anthony and Mario, their spouses, in-laws, three grandchildren; Gabriella, Alessandra, and Michael, and a brother Gaetano of New Rochelle, NY. He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Ornella, his brothers Giacomo and Verderico, of Mount Vernon, Mario, and four sisters, Gaetana, Matilda, Leondina, and Angelina of Milan, Italy. Gabriel was a kind, generous, and loving man. He had a wonderful sense of humor and his smile would light up a room. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed cooking. He was happiest spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Sinatra Memorial Home, 601 Yonkers Ave., Yonkers. Funeral mass 10AM Friday at St. Joseph's Church, Bronxville, NY. Internment Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY
