Obituary of John H. Ferro

John H. "BIG JOHN" Ferro Sr. 67, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2014. He was a lifelong resident of Yonkers, NY where he was born on September 17, 1946 to the late William and Undine (Yarborough) Ferro. Big John is survived by his devoted wife, Marie (Sassone) Ferro and by his loving son, John Ferro Jr. John and Marie were married at St. Ann's Church on Midland Ave. in Yonkers on April 3, 1971. He was self-employed in appliance sales and installations. John was always willing to help anyone in need and was a wonderful role model for his son with his strong work ethic and values. He was a devoted husband and father and was well known for his bold and humorous character. Big John enjoyed hanging out with the guys at the local neighborhood deli, watching his action movies, going fishing and, of course, his Sunday pasta. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. Services were private followed by a cremation. Inurnment will be at the Rosewood Mausoleum at Ferncliff Cemetery. A donation may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society. Family and friends are invited to light a candle, post a prayer or offer words of comfort to the website.
