Rita Zaratzian of Yonkers NY passed away on Tuesday, May 16 at the age of 88. Rita was born in Manhattan to Navart & Charles Nishanian , on September 28, 1928. She graduated from NYC public schools and went on to graduate Hunter College with Masters in Music and Education. Rita married Harry Zaratzian. In 1965 they had a son Rafael and moved to Hastings-on-Hudson NY. Rita went on to substitute teach then teach music in the Hastings School District. She also taught piano and mentored youth chamber groups. Rita loved all types of music and dance and was known for her warmth and loving nature. She was known as a great cook who believed strongly in organic foods and vitamins.
