HEY - DAD - Thinking of you - Tried to call you three times (without thinking) today and yesterday. Can't stop thinking of you. I feel so bad. Wish there was more time, (Richie - Your grandson - driving me crazy) I took him on Saturday morning to see your place. I think he gets it. Maybe not. Sleep well.

Reflecting:
The last time I seen and spent an afternoon with Tom was about a year and a half ago when I made a trip up from Florida to New York. We spent a Friday afternoon together visiting my father who was in the hospital. Later that evening we met again at "Aunt Angie's" house for dinner. Of the 9-days I spent in New York that visit that Friday spent with Tom was the most memorable for me. I go back years knowing Tom, not simply being related to his family thru my brother Richard's marriage to Annie, but also remember ... I was the one who was call by friends and family when they needed any TV repairs. Remember that trade ... it almost non-exists today like so many others! I'll miss you Tom, I'll especially always remember that the day of your funeral 8/12 is also my birthday! Another similar personal memory for me was the person who's name I took as my middle confirmation name. He was a priest and close to my family back when we were kids growing up. His name was Father "Barney", but his real first name was George, hence George is my middle name. He died on 8/12 my birthday ... and has always been remembered by me, as Tom will also be now. Thank You.

Grandpa,
I am honored to be the only person who can carry on your last name. And because of that, I feel extra close to you. I know you’re looking down on me right now, so I would like to take this time to say a few things. First, I want to apologize for not being able to make your funeral, but I promise you I'm working hard down here. Second, I want to thank you for building our family, and leaving a legacy. Your time on earth may have come to an end, but your memories will live forever. You were a loving Grandfather, a caring friend, a courageous warrior, and an admired role model. Lastly, I want to thank you for being a great Grandfather. Some people never get to meet their grandparents, but I had the privilege to live 21 years with you. I appreciate you for everything Grandpa and Love you very much. You’ll always be in my heart and I will greatly miss you.
P.S. you lived until 90 years old… that’s how hard my fastball is Grandpa. I know you’re smiling up there.
