DiFrancesco, Camillo (Tom) died August 9, 2009. He Was 90. Born on January 22, 1919, in Cugnoli, Italy, to Guiseppe and Angela Maria DiFrancesco. Beloved husband of the late Anna (Bisaccia) DiFrancesco. Survived by a son, Joseph (Susan) of Ardsley, New York, two daughters, Camille (Howard) Horton of Scarsdale, New York, Anne (Richard) Persico of Scarsdale, New York. Six grandchildren, Matthew Horton, Ciara DiFrancesco, Joseph Chad DiFrancesco, Victoria Persico, Alexa Persico, Richard Persico. Two sisters, Rita Vecchio of Yonkers, New York, Mary Dilascio of Purchase, New York and many nieces and nephews.
A five year Veteran of World War II. Activated to active duty in 1940 with N.Y.S. National Guard, Special Troops; 27th Infantry Div. and served in the Pacific Theatre of Operations through 1`943. Transferred to 44th Div. - 114th Infantry and served in Europe through 1945. Recipient of the Purple Heart, Bronze Medal with two Battle Stars; Presidential Unit Citation. Member and past Commander of Amvets Post #40; Charter and Life member of V.F.W. Chapter 1666; Representative to the Central Committee of War Veterans.
He was employed by Phelps Dodge Corporation, Habirshaw Div. in various Departments and retired after 33 years as Marketing Supervisor and as a part-time employee in the U.S. Postal Service for 20 yrs.
Tom will always be remembered for his bright smile and kind and loving ways. He saw joy and beauty in all of life - especially with his family around him. He made the best pizza, gravy and meatballs. Sundays with Poppy will always be a favorite memo0ry. He will be dearly missed.
Visiting hours at Sinatra Memorial Home, 601 Yonkers Avenue on Tuesday, from 2-4 & 7-9 PM Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church, Yonkers, Wednesday 11:00 AM Entombment will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery
