Jorge L. Crespo was the eldest of eight born on September 23rd, 1962 in Yonkers, New York. Mr. Crespo then moved with his family to Toa Baja Puerto Rico where he lived until his high school years. Mr. Crespo attended Yonkers High School and graduated in 1980 and went on to graduate from Parsons School of Design in 1984. A prolific artist with gallery showings at El Museo Del Barrio, St. John's University, and Wave Hill Mr. Crespo wrote and illustrated two children's books and was lead illustrator on various other titles. He was a children's storyteller and has artwork displayed at the Jackson Avenue 2 train. Mr. Crespo returned to graduate school and received a Master of Arts from Lehman College and began a teaching career first at P.S. 25 in the Bronx in 1996 as a Spanish/Art teacher and most recently as a beloved art teacher at Yonkers Middle High School. Mr. Crespo is survived by daughter Mercy Christine Crespo (33), granddaughter Brianna Christine Vargas (14), his mother Maria Antonia Nuñez and father Jorge Crespo, fiancé Jacqueline Garcia, his four brothers, three sisters and fourteen nieces and nephews. Memorial will be held at Community Home for Funerals located on 601 Yonkers Avenue, Yonkers, NY. Viewing will be Monday, October 22nd 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Burial will be at 10:30 am at Mt. Hope Cemetery, 50 Jackson Ave, Hastings-on-Hudson, New York 10706 on Tuesday, October 23rd, 2018.
