Philip Wane Sawyer, known to friends as "Phil," passed away on June 4, 2019, at the age of 69 years. A native of the Bahamas he lived with his family in Banksville, NY for 42 years. Phil received a Bachelors of Science degree from Mercy College and a Masters of Business Administration from Long Island University. He was a Certified Public Accountant and practiced in New York City and lower Fairfield County prior to establishing his own practice in Westchester County, New York. Phil enjoyed many hobbies. He had a passion for woodworking, building boxes, birdhouses and dreamed of someday building his own wooden boat much like his Grandfather did. He was an avid stargazer and had a fondness for astronomy and dark skies which would take him on many journeys across the north eastern US to set up his many telescopes and binoculars to view the stars and planets of our universe. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Patricia (Zygmont), son Scott (Karen) and Daughter Rebecca (Chris), 3 grandchildren, Carter, Meghan and Colby, his mother Iris, sister Sharon, and nephews Damian and Jonathan(Katie) and their sons Jeffery and Jayden. Phil joins his father Wane and brother Keith in heaven. A graveside service will be held at 11 am, on Saturday June 8 at the Middle Patent Cemetery, Middle Patent Road, Bedford, NY. Family and friends will gather at the home in Banksville after the service. Memorial donations in memory of Phil can be made to Lustgarten Foundation Pancreatic Cancer Research (https://www.lustgarten.org)
