Thank you all for the very kind words. Some time has passed but he and his memories are as strong as ever. It means so much hearing how much he meant to everyone. Larry was a lot of things to me. The cool Uncle. My sober buddy when i was doing dumb stuff. My guide. My dad.
Funny story to share. I was a kid maybe 7yrs old or so. I used to watch Uncle Larry pump gas at his gas station and i wanted to be just like him! One day i was in our driveway and i popped open the gas cap, and filled er up! It took Larry maybe an hour to realize why the car wasnt starting, and ask me if i had put water in the tank. When i explained why he smiled, and said don't worry i'll fix it.
I miss not having him to call every time i do basically anything. "Hey La ..." it would always start. Its like whatever it was that i did, wasn't complete until i told him about it. What i will miss most is how he somehow always knew what to do! You can tell him any problem you had in the world. Maybe your sidewalk is cracked, maybe your neighbor was giving you problems, maybe your hot water tank went, maybe washer machine was making a noise that you'd sound like a fool trying to make the sound for him, and he would somehow get it. He always had the answer. And he wasn't afraid to tell you if you did the wrong thing! "well that was dumb, i would have done XYZ because otherwise down the road you will have issues.." then of course down the road you'd have issues and wish you asked him prior, but this time you will do it how he recommended. He somehow always knew what to do. This happened often. "Hey La you arent going to believe this, so i bought these fog lamps and hooked them up to my car, i spliced them into these wires ..." and he'd cut me off "well im surprised that didn't fry the wire and pop the fuse..." and id be silent, until saying "well i was going to say that my wire is now fried and the fuse keeps popping" haha! He always knew somehow.
I admire his fight. He was dealt a very rough card over and over and over again. Ok he had a lot of us around him to make things a bit easier for him, but for the most part he made the best of it. He used his time not for himself, but for others. Every little thing he did, bought or built was for others to enjoy!
He is still with us in spirit! I see signs almost every single day, and i never ever believed in any of that. A red cardinal that shows up almost daily. Or i put the TV on the music station and its playing "Hats off to Larry". Or me standing outside one night talking to myself "Hey La, you with me?" and off in the distance several blocks away i hear the burnout of all burnouts. Anyone who knew Larry knows that was him ha!
Anyhow thank you all again for the memories you've made with Larry, and shared with me and my family.

Larry and I met in his senior year of Roosevelt when he was in my photography class. Even though it was a photography class, all we talked about was cars. I'll always remember hanging out with him in front of Burger King or Tanglewood with our hot cars and still talking about cars years later.
After moving to Arizona many years ago, I reconnected with him in 2014. I enjoyed visiting him every summer when returning to New York in the summer. We still talked a lot about cars.
A few years ago during one of my yearly visits, three other high school friends randomly showed up at Larry's house. We had a great time together with him that afternoon. I don't think we could have met like that had we planned it. His family, friends and I will miss not seeing Larry now. There will be a void without him on my yearly visits to New York.

Larry, I miss you so much. I still cannot believe you are gone. What a fighter! You are such a kind and generous person, always thinking of others before yourself. I was honored to be able to care for you the last nearly 7 years, and also call you my friend. May God grant you eternal rest. You have endured so many sufferings on this Earth, but truly never even complained, and kept a smile on your face and a joke to go along with it. You deserve all the happiness only God can give, in Heaven. I look forward to seeing you again when we all make our way up there. I'm sure you will be head mechanic. All my love and prayers for your soul and to your wonderful family and friends.

Well said Dr Henrietta. We will all miss Larry very much but have great memories of him and his life. He had a great disposition and, as you know, a great sense of humor. most of us would have probably handled his issues differently... that’s what made Larry, Larry. A very easy guy to be friends with.... it seems everyone he touched became his friend... What a guy. He will be sorely missed ... Big Moe, as I called him, until we meet again....rest in peace my old friend.... Nick

Goodbye My Friend
Oh we never know where life will take us
I know it's just a ride on the wheel
And we never know when death will shake us
And we wonder how it will feel
So goodbye my friend
I know I'll never see you again
But the time together through all the years
Will take away these tears
It's okay now
Goodbye my friend
I've seen a lot of things that make me crazy
And I guess I held onto you
We could have run away and left well maybe
But it wasn't tme and we both knew
So goodbye my friend
I know I'll never see you again
But the love you gave me through all the years
Will take away these tears
It's okay now
Goodbye my friend
Life's so fragile and love's so pure
We can't hold on but we try
We watch how quickly it disappears
And we never know why
But I'm okay now
Goodbye my friend
You can go now
Goodbye my friend
Thanks for the memories.
Loving and missing you always, Janet xxooxx
