Obituary of Giovanni DiMarco

Please share a memory of Giovanni to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Giovanni was born in Cugnoli, Italy where he served as a Military Police Officer prior to immigrating to Yonkers, NY in 1954. He was a devoted member of the Sacred Heart Parish in Yonkers for over 40 years and an active member of the Local 60 Labor Union for 35 years before retiring. He was a miraculous man who touched the lives of his family, friends and anyone he ever met. People loved to be around him and he cherished every moment with them. His greatest joy in life was to sit back at the dinner table and just embrace the happiness and laughter of his family and friends. Giovanni's passions were found in entertaining great company, reminiscing about his younger years in Italy and traveling back to his hometown, playing a game of Briscola or Scopa, finding any possible project to actively use his hands whether it was knocking down a wall or cutting down a tree, visiting his favorite local clam bar or a good spicy Bloody Mary. A selfless man, he instilled traditions and values in all, showing the true definition of family and love, positively influencing as a role model for others to carry on the same values to their own families. Giovanni is survived by his wife Ida; his children Linda (Billy) Tinelle , Emily (Thomas) Buckley and John (Darlene) DiMarco; his grandchildren Valerie (Daniel) Potter, Michael (Mindy) Buckley, Anthony (Tara) Tinelle, Gina-Marie (Dennis) DeGiorgio, Amanda and John DiMarco; his great-grandchildren Ella and Sofia Potter, Nicholas and Jillian Tinelle, and Joseph DeGiorgio; his sister Emilia (Fernando) Violante; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers Vincenzo (Cecilia) DiMarco, Antonio (Vincenza) DiMarco and his sisters Ilda (Donato) Sabatini, Maria (Benito) Odoardi and Concetta (Pasquale) Odoardi.
