Dear Jake & Joey
I met your mom for the first time this in September 2020. She came to my house on a really hot day and did my hair outside on my deck. She was so kind and sweet and made me feel so comfortable. She knew I was living in fear of the virus and gave me a sense of normalcy having my hair done. We talked almost the whole time. She felt like a friend immediately. I saw the love she had for the two of you in her eyes as she spoke about having you both home during the pandemic. Her smile was hidden under mask but so apparent through her eyes! She came back to my house again 5 weeks later and did my color and cut my hair again outside. She also cut my husbands hair which my husband and I both agreed it was the best haircut he ever got!!! Your mom told me about her upcoming surgery. So sorry to hear about her passing. May her memory be a blessing. From the 2 visits I had with her I can tell you filled her heart with so much love and she was so proud of both of you and so honored to be your mom.
Thinking of both or you.

I was heartbroken to learn of Kathy's passing. For years we had wonderful conversations while she transformed my hair- no matter what challenges she faced she always had that quick laugh and happy demeanor as we shared stories about our lives. I was always impressed with her ability to forgive others and to keep an upbeat and truly happy outlook. She told me stories about her father and mother, and what she considered to be a miracle in her own life as a child. The love and pride she felt for both of her parents was obvious, as it was for her sons. Jake and Joey, I have always heard how Jake took after her father with his abilities in math and computers, and how Joey was such a gifted and talented chef. Please know that I have all of you in my prayers. As sad as I am that she is gone, and I will miss her terribly, I know that she is in a beautiful place right with the Lord that she was devoted to her entire life.

I will always be grateful for the friend that introduced me to Kathy 10 years ago. She always worked her magic on my hair, but more than that, I always looked forward to the three hour conversations we had when she was at my house and we talked about God, life, and always the most important things in her life - her sons. Jake and Joey - your mom was so proud of you, acknowledged the hardships you overcame in your lives, how you grew and how she always believed in you. Seeing you at her funeral, I saw how much you loved her and how proud she would be of both of you. She was one of the most hardworking people I ever knew and was taken too soon, but was such a beautiful person inside and out and there is no doubt in my mind that she is resting - as she deserves - with our Lord right now.
Please know that we are all here for you and that you can rely on us for anything you need.

I was very sorry to hear that my good friend and stylist, Kathy died after a short illness. My condolences go out to Jake and Joey.
For 36 years, Kathy was my friend and stylist. I followed her through different phases of her career as a hair stylist: when she had a station at Le Collage; when she opened her own shop in Mount Kisco; when she worked from her home after she became a mother, and finally when she took to traveling to her clients' homes to cut their hair. She saw me through job changes and the birth of my twin daughters. I saw Kathy transform into a wondering, loving, and caring mother to her sons, Jake and Joey. I always admired her for being a single mother and doing it so well. It's hard raising children even with a supportive husband but to do it alone is even harder.
Kathy was a wonderful stylist. She worked magic with those sharp scissors which she always sent away to a professional scissors sharpener in Texas. She permed and cut my hair through the 1980s (my choice since I had straight hair and wanted curly hair). Of course, she always tried to convince me to embrace my hair--straight, thick, and healthy. She promised me a a nice, stylish, short, easy to care for cut. I finally listened to her in 1990 because I wanted a new look and I was sick of sitting in the salon chair for hours and inhaling those perm fumes. I loved my new hair style and haven't deviated from it since. Kathy also took on my family's heads. She cut Tom's hair twice a year since he doesn't have much of it. I laughed that she didn't make any money off him. And once my daughters Catherine and Elizabeth grew hair (they were baldish babies), they became her clients. Afterwards they would play with Jake and Joey (this was when she started working from home.) Later as teenagers, they went through a hair coloring phase: pink, purple, blue, red, yellow, white, you name it. Kathy did a great job transforming them into cool girls (mercifully, the girls outgrew this stage when they went to college.) She made them up and styled their hair for their Senior Prom. They looked fabulous! I told her once that she couldn't retire because who would cut my hair and the hair of other clients. I
I always enjoyed seeing Kathy when she came up to cut my hair every six weeks. We'd catch up on what's going on in our lives and have a few laughs, and if it was late in the day, have a glass of wine. I will miss her
Rest in peace, Kathy

I am so sorry for your loss. Kathy came to our house to cut all our hair for years and we felt like she was one of the family. Her kindness and patience with my disabled son was very special and meant the world to me. Jake and Joe, if there is anything you ever think anyone in my family can help you with, years from now or soon, small or large, we stand ready to do that. She was so proud of both of you and our hearts go out to you and the rest of your family.

"Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, you are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure"
I had the great pleasure of meeting Kathy about 5.5 years ago, after my hair had been mistakenly colored orange by another colorist. I had just moved to the area, a new mom to my 3 month old daughter. Kathy was kind enough to squeeze me in at the eleventh hour to fix my orange locks before a family confirmation party. She effortlessly performed a miracle to behold on my orange hair. From that day on Kathy became a good friend, trusted confidant and a woman for whom I'd grow to have a great admiration for. Nearly each month she would come to my place or I would go to hers and we'd chat for hours while my hair color was processing. As a cat lover myself, I always welcomed visits from Smoky, Bandit and Junior. As the months passed I learned a great deal about Kathy-how she beat childhood cancer , went on to raise her two boys as a single mom, while hustling to make ends meet as a phenomenally successful colorist/stylist. Kathy always put family first. She often spoke of how proud she was of Jake and Joey and their endeavors. She was dedicated to her work, while also being an accomplished musician, and devoted mom/daughter/sister and cat mom.
I last saw Kathy just a few days before her surgery. She expressed how much she wanted to get it over with and get back to her life. I never imagined that would be the last time I'd see her. I am so deeply saddened and stunned by her passing. I will miss her tremendously.
Jake, Joey and family, I am truly sorry for your loss. I am sending you all most sincere wishes for comfort and peace.
Warm Regards,

Dear Jake, Joey and family,
Like everyone else commenting here, I am heartbroken and shocked by Kathy’s passing. I always looked forward to my appointments with her, where we would share laughs, talk about our children and families and of course, hair! Her energy and determination was obvious from the first time I met her. I was always awed how she managed to fill her life with work, her music, friends but most of all Jake, Joey and extended family. It seemed like there wasn’t a problem she couldn’t deal with and solve.
I know as the initial shock and pain subside, wonderful memories will be the first thing that come to mind when you think of her. I wish I could join all of you at the service, but my heart will be with you.

A friend told me that Kathy would come to our house to cut my mother’s hair. When she came over, it became clear that she and my mother were fellow musicians. Though she was much better than I was, after cutting my hair and my mother’s hair, she and I would play flute duets and sometimes trios with my daughter Aviva, and we would talk. I very much appreciated the time she took out of her busy schedule. We called her the flute-playing haircutter or the hair-cutting flute player. We performed at the music parties we put on around my mother’s birthday each year. Before each party, she would style our hair. She made us look nice and sound nice. It was special going to the concerts of the orchestras and the community theater in which she performed. We miss her very much.

I met Kathy about five years ago, when we started making music together. She was a fine musician, and I always enjoyed playing with her. But I didn’t really get to know her until I became her client two years ago, and met Jake and Joey, and the cats! I always looked forward to my appointments. We never ran out of things to talk about, and Kathy had a wonderful sense of humor. I got the impression that she worked too hard (and too much), but she seemed unstoppable. Still in disbelief, I offer my sincere condolences to Jake and Joey, and hope that the knowledge that so many people share your grief will bring you some comfort.

Kathy was my hairdresser for about 20 years. I always looked forward to my appointments, not only because she did a great job, it also was a chance to vent, chat and catch up about our families. I so enjoyed playing with the cats that she loved dearly. I remember the story of how one of you boys rescued a kitten by the side of the road and soon it became one of the gang. She was a loving, caring and sensitive woman with a great sense of humor who was very proud of both you boys! I will miss her dearly. May she rest in Peace.

Dear Jake and Joey,
Your Mom and I were neighbors when she lived at Diplomat (the first time). We re-connected when she moved back to Kisco. Kathy was one of the hardest working people I knew. I couldn’t believe how much she could pack into one day. She was a master at juggling family responsibilities and work. I recall her telling me that her boys insisted that she take her birthday off and relax by going to the Beach, Of course the plans fell through and she ended up working. I remember she continued to work and play the flute, even when she had pain in her hand. I had the pleasure of meeting your grandparents when your Mom asked me to help them find an apartment. She wanted to have them closer so she could keep an eye on them. Kathy always put family and friends first. I am truly sorry for your loss and will miss her dearly.

Dear Jake & Joey,
I’ve known your mom for almost 18 years. She’s been an extension of our family, having met me only days after my first child was born (with both of you in tow - you loved meeting such a tiny baby!). She was a fixture in my home and a treasured visitor by my dog.
Kathy has been a friend and confidante for so long and we talked about everything; especially our kids. You both were her pride and joy; there was nothing she wouldn’t do for you. Her love for you was larger than life.
I saw Kathy not long before surgery and texted with her the day before. Even as I was asking how I could help HER, she was saying, “Don’t worry, I’ll still be able to mix your color and you can pick it up.” She always put others first. She was quick to accommodate a client and bent over backwards to make everyone happy.
She was a super hero - her strength in all aspects of her life never ceased to amaze me. No matter what challenges came her way, she handled them with grace and determination. She was truly an inspiration. No matter how hectic or overwhelming life got, she always had a sense of calm about her.
I will truly miss her. I can’t imagine not seeing her each month rolling her little suitcase into my kitchen. She was an amazing woman and her loss will be felt by so many for years and years to come.
Your mom will always be with you in your hearts. She’ll be the inner voice you hear when making a tough decision and she’ll be the ray of sun after a stormy time. May the memories of all of the happy times you shared together comfort you in the difficult days ahead.
Fondly,

Dear Joey and Jake,
Words cannot describe how deeply saddened I am to learn the loss of your mother. I remember her always welcoming me with a hug and kiss on the cheek whenever I’d come to visit. She was so small, even smaller than me, so I always felt the need to be delicate whenever I hugged her. Seeing her in the living room doing a client’s hair always amused me, as the way she styled hair was completely different than the way I’d have mine done. We’d have conversations about my hair, and I could tell it amused her too! She never made me feel unwelcome, and I enjoyed the sporadic conversations we had, including when she told me the origins of your family late one night in your kitchen. I will miss her terribly. May she rest in paradise ♥️

I met your mom many years ago at Anderson French. I immediately liked her and traveled to wherever she was or she came to me. Yes we all enjoyed the haircuts - kids, husband, grandma and grandpa too! But as has been said before it was more than that. She was my friend, one that I will miss dearly. We shared our experiences as moms, as daughters and as women in general. That was the beauty of her so many different sides and always willing to share. We had the honor of having the whole family get cuts on the deck recently and that is how I will remember her. Dear Jake, Joey and Family,
I am so sorry to hear this very sad news! My heart goes out to you all. I met Kathy in 2007, shortly after the birth of my son Jake. I didn’t want to go out with a new baby, so Kathy came to me to cut my hair (while Jake usually slept in my arms). Through the years we always talked about our Jakes and also Joey and my second son! She eventually befriended my sister-in-law, who lives across the street from us, so we would see Kathy when she came to cut her hair as well! I loved learning about her musical talents while she spent time with us ( she never bragged, we had to drag it out of her) and about her father and family. She was a lovely woman and the last person to cut my hair and Jake’s in these crazy times.
We are so very sorry for your loss. She was a sweet and humble person and she will be missed.

She was always so wonderful with my numerous pets, and of course, I heard all about the cats at home. Kathy was possibly the hardest working person I knew, always accommodating and so amenable. Her upbeat approach to life was a lesson in positive thinking and one that I will always remember her for. When we last spoke, just last month, she talked about looking forward to slowing down and having more time to spend with her music. May she rest in peace and forever enjoy the sound of music.

We are deeply saddened and shocked by the news of Kathy’s death. She was here with us the Wednesday before her surgery and was her usual positive, energetic and fun self. She bragged of her ability to heal quickly and set a date for her return.

I am shocked and saddened to learn of your beloved mother’s passing.
I have been a client of your mother’s for over 20 years. I met her when she was working at the Anderson French salon in Croton Falls. Like others, I followed her where she went. I remember traveling to Fishkill with my boys when they were little. You boys were somewhere around 8 and 11 years old. The two of you played with my boys so your talented mother could cut my hair. Like others have shared, your mom cut everyone’s hair in my house at different points in time.
My last visit with your mom was on October 8th. Like others, we got to know each other well, sharing our trials and tribulations as mothers, daughters and working professionals. At that time, we discussed her upcoming surgery and her expected recovery time. We even went so far as to schedule a tentative appointment for December 3rd. So, this news is very unexpected.
I will miss your dear mother. She was talented and kind. She loved her family deeply.
I will keep her and you in my prayers.

To Kathy’s family – we are so sorry for the loss of Kathy. She will be missed forever! Love to all.
A quick Kathy story shows she never put herself first.
So, my dear Kathy came to my house Saturday the 17th 2 days before her surgery, the day she was not supposed to work, but of course Kathy said yes to me and came anyway not to do 1 haircut but the whole family and a quick highlight. I met Kathy when I was fifteen years old when I worked in the pharmacy across the street from her shop in Mt. Kisco. One day she said you should let me cut your hair! That was it for 35 years. I followed her wherever she went. She became a part of our special times and part of the family. My wedding, then she took on cutting my husbands hair. 3 babies first haircuts and every haircut after that! My son even came home from college to get a cut from Kathy that weekend. Communions, parties she was always there to help us get ready. We had great conversations that day for 4 hours with a lot of laughs as usual. Never did I think our haircuts would be the last by the great Kathy!

To Kathy's family,
It is with great sorrow that I learned of Kathy's passing and want you to know how much she meant to many, many people. When I picture Kathy, I see a smiling face! I could also count on Kathy to bring a bit of humor to the (hair related) table because she had so much to share. She and I go way, way back to when we met at the Main Street, Mt. Kisco, hair salon. We kept in touch and caught up on family, friends, and interests. Knowing they'd hit it off, jer mother, Lorraine, and my mother, Gladys Whyte, went on a girl's trip to California (think Thelma and Louise) and had a great time while staying with family on the west coast.
Many years ago, Kathy asked if I would write a recommendation letter concerning her wish to adopt a child to which I agreed. Knowing what I did of Kathy, I wrote that she would be an excellent mother, already being that to Jake. She was "approved" and soon she and Jake came home with (little) Joey who has grown to be a great young man as has Jake but not without the love, support, and guidance they received from their mom. I remember Kathy telling me that Joey couldn't sit up when she brought him home even though he should've been by that age. Within a couple of weeks, Kathy had Joey doing pretty much everything he should've been at his age, and then some!
I miss her already and will miss her forever as will all of her friends and family.
She left this earth way too soon and had so much more to give of herself.

She had a fantastic memory and never missed a beat about different products and past hairstyles. She was also super organized, always on her computer sending reminder emails and outreach. She also cut my daughter's hair over the years and was so sweet with her. Kathy came to my house, (outside on the deck), to give me and my daughter cuts in August. Because of the quarantine, my hair had not been done in many, many months. She convinced me to cut more than six inches off, and gave me a very fashionable hairstyle. I felt so much better about myself and how I looked after she left. She had the ability to do that and make such an impact. She was also here about a month ago, and we had a wonderful discussion about everything going on. I am so sad to hear of Kathy's passing. She was a wonderful person and she will be missed. I am thinking of her family and boys at this difficult time.

I was a client of Kathy’s for over 35 years and she was a wonderful hair dresser, mom and person. Over the years we shared stories about our children, current events, and laughed a lot. Kathy had a good sense of humor and we often shared our funny stories together. I would like to offer my condolences with her family, this was just a complete shock to me as Kathy was always a healthy and active person.
With Sympathy,
Rosemary Gasparrini

Jake & Joey, I'm sorry for your loss. She adored you boys - the brilliant mathematician and creative chef. I always looked forward to our three-hour get-togethers over haircuts and coloring and will miss her stories, spunk, and giggle. The world has become a darker place without her positivity and light shining within it. God bless her soul.

I am deeply sorry for your loss. Kathy was such a kind and generous person, always upbeat and positive. She loved you boys so much and spoke of you all the time. She was so proud of you both! I enjoyed speaking with her about music -- how amazing that she was a concert oboist and flautist so invested in working on her art. We will miss her.

Kathy was a sincere and genuine light of love for those of us blessed with having her as a part of our lives. Although diminutive and soft spoken, her spirit and energy were indomitable and enduring. Always compassionate and generous, she never stopped providing and nourishing us with her love and kindness. We can all continue to be inspired and guided by her profound and resolute faith. I am certain that her beautiful spirit will forever remain a lovely melody in our memories, our hearts and in our lives.

I am so, so saddened to hear of the loss of such a warm and sweet women, Kathy. I had been using Kathy for hair services since 2013, and always enjoyed talking to her about our kids, or other family members, or getting a science lesson behind the products she was using on me. She was always so easy to talk to, and so proud of her boys for their accomplishments. She will be truly missed by those who she touched. Prayers to her family, especially her boys who she did so much for! This is not fair and the world is a better place because of Kathy.

I don’t think I ever saw Aunt Kathy sit still. She was always doing something for someone else and would never accept thanks for it. It made a strong impression watching Kathy just be herself- a single mother, business owner, involved daughter, in addition to her music and everything else like it was no big deal. It was amazing to see her juggle all of it and even as a kid I knew she was doing something special. Kath was incredibly smart and caring, and had a wicked sense of humor that I’m going to miss.
Kathy loved her family more than anything and she made my summers in New York the best times in my whole life. She made it a point to keep in touch with me and let me know she was always thinking about me all this time, even though I’m in my thirties now. It’s easy to lose touch as time goes on but Kath didn’t let that happen. She was a truly exceptional person and was a blessing to know.

Kathy and I had a long friendship. She was a good friend. We had a lot of good times. She was a kind and gentle person. Her work as a master colorist and hair designer were truly the best. I’ve worked along side her many times. Kathy was a great mother and daughter and sibling. Kathy will be greatly missed by many. Rest In Peace❤️

I have very fond memories of my cousin Kathy (I always called her Kathy Jane, since we shared the same name) visiting for Easter, when we were kids. It was always a special time. We used to write letters back and forth when we were in fourth grade. I remember keeping her letters in a plastic envelope with a snap, since I didn't want anything to happen to them. I wish I still had those letters. Kathy was always kind and I remember her being very talented musically. I am very sad to hear that she passed away. My heart goes out to Uncle Dom, my cousins Carol, Nancy and David and Kathy's children.
With deepest sympathy,
Cousin Kathy Lynn
