Obituary of Kathy Jane Vartuli
Please share a memory of Kathy Jane to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Our family lost its gentlest soul, Katherine Vartuli, on November 4, after a brief illness.
Kathy Jane Vartuli was the fourth and youngest child of Dominic and Lorraine Vartuli. Born in Saratoga, New York, July 7, 1959, she grew up in Somers, New York where she started kindergarten and finished high school. She studied at Western Connecticut University, and later became a master hair stylist and colorist. She was the proprietor of Changing Times Salon in Mt. Kisco. Over the past 25 years, she operated HairArt and served clients throughout Westchester, and beyond.
Kathy's passion and avocation was music. She was a masterful flautist, and she and her silver flute were dedicated players in the St. Francis of Assisi Church choir. She also played the oboe, and was a member of the New Westchester Symphony and the Cortlandt Chamber Orchestra.
Family was the cornerstone of Kathy's life. She was a nurturing, dedicated mother to Jacob and Joseph, a devoted daughter to Dominic and (the late) Lorraine Vartuli, and the best sister to Carol Vartuli (Robert Marin) of New York, David Vartuli of Colorado, and Nancy Jones of Hawaii.
Her nephews and niece are Kenton Gomez (Nancy), Christopher Gomez, Jack Jones (Belinda), Nevada Jones, and Rebecca Mallo (Matthew). Great nieces and nephews include Jordan, Izabella and Brooke Jones; Isabella and Lily Gomez; Andie Gomez; and Evelyn Mallo.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, November 13 at 11:00 a.m., St. Francis of Assisi Church, Mt. Kisco, New York.
