We are never prepared to say goodbye to someone forever, even though we know it is part of life, when the time comes, we can never say the last words, the last goodbye. When someone is special to us, there is an emptiness in our hearts and we cannot muster the necessary strength to tell him how much that person was dear to us and that the lack he makes us is enormous. You left. No matter how special it was for me, you are no longer here and while I mourn your death, I gather the few strengths I have to also celebrate the life of someone I have always loved. Peace to your soul!

My memories of of Mom Yazurlo, always busy in taking care of the family and enjoying every moment spent with them. Her deep love for her husband.
She taught me to cook and make pasta, with a little bit a this and a handful of that and that’s how the recipes are written! Always encouraging and showing me new ways. I remember how beautifully she tailored making Mim and I dresses. How she loves her garden and made her wine.
I was fortunate to have her in my life. I can still hear her calling me Michalooch!
My God bless her soul and may she Rest In Peace.
Much love Michele

Grandma,
I love you so much and am so sad that you are no longer here with us, but I am also happy for you because it means that you get to be with grandpa again and I know how much you missed him. I can almost hear you calling, “My sweetheart.”
The disease that took you from us was cruel and unforgiving. Just know that I will always remember you as the strong, brave, and capable woman who was still sprinting up and down six flights of stairs in her early 80s as if she were decades younger.
Grandma, I know how lucky I am to have had someone like you help shape me from a very young age. There are so many things that remind me of you—even now as I write this there are church bells ringing for 9:00 am mass.
I remember on Thursday nights in the warmer weather I would walk with you to church for 5:00 pm mass. You would stop to introduce me to neighbors on the street as we walked and friends from church. You always gave me money to put in the collection box and for some reason that made me happy.
I also cannot help, but think of you any time I hear the name, St. Anthony. I remember one time you lost a necklace that grandpa gave to you and you kept praying to St. Anthony over and over until it miraculously appeared on the stones near the garden.
The garden and your backyard are a huge source of many of my memories with you. In the summertime, you used to let me help water the plants at dusk and pick any ripened vegetables throughout the day. On days that were too hot, we would play cards in the garage and eat ice cream.
You also taught me to cook different Italian foods like homemade pasta and your brown sugar biscotti. You always made sure that the family was well fed. Now, there are so many foods that vividly remind me of you: cold rice pudding with cinnamon, buttery pancakes, fried chicken cutlets with lemon, fresh Italian bread dipped in homemade gravy, and honey-soaked struffoli.
You had me try smelt, dandelion, and arugula for the very first time, among many other foods. Although it has been a while since you were last able to cook an entire holiday meal, it is hard to believe that you will not be around for them this year. I cannot picture Christmas without thinking of you. With the exception of two years, we spent thirty other Christmases together and for that I am thankful.
This letter barely scratches the surface of all my memories of you. So, I will tell you about one last memory, which also happens to be my first of the two of us together: It was warm and you asked if I wanted to go for a walk. I was about 3 or 4 years old and had only been as far as Lindsey Street. We walked through new neighborhoods for what felt like a very long time. Then we suddenly arrived at a place that I had never seen before. It was a flea market.
We spent all day wandering around the flea market, looking at everything. You told me to pick something out, but I felt like I couldn’t because I had only seen mom and dad buy me things at this point. You said it was all right, to pick something out, and that it would be our secret. For some reason, I choose a tiny, multicolored purse that was decorated with clear beads and had a silver clasp.
I remember walking home and feeling special. It was the first memory I had of someone giving me a gift. Though I no longer have that purse, I can picture the memory of that entire day. I wonder now if I had brought it up again a few years ago if you would remember it too.
Grandma, thank you for everything that you have done for me for my entire life. I love you and hope that you are happy and at peace.
Love,
Jaclyn

Will miss you mom you were everything a son would want. I remember how you took care of me and everyone before yourself. But now it’s time mom to rest and let the Lord take care of you

Dan, sorry to hear about the passing of your mom earlier this year. From the nice comments from others here I could tell your mom was a lot like my mom. I remember the time you brought me some of your mom’s home-made cavatelle (when we worked together at Sony) which was excellent.

Dear Maria & Family:
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your mom. You were a good daughter and always there for all her needs. I know she felt safe and loved. Glad that she was with you. Loss is a very difficult thing and what I wish for you and your family is peace. Keep the wonderful memories you have of your mom in your heart. That's what gets you through. Always here for you. With love and deepest sympathy.
