I regret that I only encountered Matilda in her later years at the nursing home. Yet I am grateful as well.
In that difficult, often painful environment, she managed to convey such warmth and kindness without words, by her smile or a glance. The way she seemed to desire and appreciate receiving the Sacraments or a prayer with a visiting minister was truly inspiring. I will remember Matilda, and her family, in my prayers.
