Luci Lavaia

Obituary of Luci T. Lavaia

Please share a memory of Luci to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Luci Lavaia was born on July 12, 1950 in Manhattan to Rose and Martin Casamassina. Luci grew up in Queens, NY and graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology. She started a career in the Fashion Industry working for Bloomingdales as buyer and a fashion stylist. In 1972 she married her beloved husband, Frank Lavaia. They spent their years caring for each other and raising a family on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Luci lit up a room whenever she was in it. She made everyone feel as if they were her best friend. She was a delight to be around and always made you feel welcome. She doted on her husband Frank and was adored by him. Luci was a warm and nurturing mother who was a great support to her children and later treated their spouses as one of her own. However, Luci's greatest joy was being a grandmother to her four grandchildren. They were her life, and she loved every moment she had with each one of them. Luci is survived by her husband Frank; children, Marc and his wife Deborah Lavaia of Manhasset, NY, and Julianne and her husband Timothy Cunningham of Dobbs Ferry, NY; grandchildren, Mia Cunningham and Olivia, Rocco and Vincent Lavaia; her mother Rose Casamassina of Hastings-on-Hudson, NY; her mother-in-law Grace Lavaia of Yonkers, NY; her two sisters and their spouses Annette and Augie Prudenti of Queens, NY and Coreen and William LoRusso of Danbury, CT, her brother and sisters in law Thomas and Janice Lavaia of Tarrytown, NY and Julia Lavaia of Manhattan, NY, together with many beloved family and friends. Luci was predeceased by her father Martin; father-in-law Rocco; dearest friends Jane Ostrove and Theresa Degeorge. She also is reunited with her dearest min-pin, Pip. Services are listed below. The family asks in lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation in Luci's name to: Hamlin Fire and Rescue Co. / General Donation, P.O.
