Sunset December 18, 2022
Florenz A. Evans was born in Yonkers General Hospital on February 8, 1950. She departed this life on December 18, 2022, after a brief illness. Florenz was one of four children born to Louis and Mary C. Evans. Florenz resided in Yonkers with her much-adored family and friends.
Florenz worked at Gestetner in Yonkers, for over 25 years before finding herself at Davis Avenue Medical Group and then on to CBL Path Rye Brook, NY where she was a loyal, devoted, and impeccable employee for 17 years before retiring in 2021.
Florenz was a loving and dedicated mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. She showed generosity, grace and constant love to family, friends and donated to many charitable organizations. Florenz enjoyed reading, listening to music, spending time with family, traveling and swimming. Florenz always had a beautiful smile, and a generous and giving heart, a person who would give her last to strangers and anyone who needed it. Her kind heart and upbeat spirit kept her going.
Florenz is survived by: a loving son, Andre Evans (Louisville, Kentucky), a dedicated, devoted, and loving, daughter LaVonne Evans; adoring granddaughters, UnyQuee L. Ortiz, ShaVonne Santos and Amanda Evans; great grandchildren, Chase Knowles and Dakota Owens. Florenz is also survived by two siblings: Verneda Jackson (Orlando, FL), Marsha Evans; nephews, nieces; dedicated, caring supporter, Sharmar Owens; and a host of other relatives. A mother, father and brother predeceased her.
Florenz will be dearly missed, throughout her pain she remained strong and positive. We are really going to miss you, it will be different without you, and for the rest of our lives, we will be thinking of you. The time came when you had to go but you fought a good fight and I hope that you know we were there from start to the end. You are at peace and no more pain. We Love you now and forever.
Rest in Peace Florenz, "Mom, Gram, GG, and Weez"
