To My Friend and Fellow Widow, Anna Maria,
Some how I found myself weeping in your lap. We were visiting your late husband Antonio, or Mr. Vitullo to me. I had recently lost my husband Steve, to the devil COVID. And my Mom to dementia a few months prior my husband.
I fell in love with you at that moment when you held me.
I told you I prayed to your husband as well as mine and my husband’s Mom, Regina to help me and you said he would help us.
I believe my husband, Steve sent me to Eddie. Knowing that we had dated before years ago, the fact that Eddie knew my husband, my Mom and also my late brother, Johnnie brought me great comfort. And I knew Eddie’s Pop!
I guess it frightened you. I just believed God had sent me and I kept telling Eddie we have “work to do”. I didn’t really know what exactly but just that we were to help each other.
Mrs. Vitullo, I so wanted to be your daughter-in-law. I guess because I never knew Regina, Steve’s Mom. Also, I missed my Mom so much every day.
One day months ago, still trying to decipher why I was here and God’s plan and what I was supposed to do……. It came to me….. you were my friend!!
I think I still scared you!! But it helped me to see clearer. I realized you were afraid. I don’t blame you. But I realized I could offer you my heart full of love. It was all I had and all I had ever wanted to give you.
I wanted to be another person to give you love….. not take Eddie away.
I wish we had had longer. But I think you may have realized it was my sincere JOY to bring you gifts from plants and flowers to candies to pastries to tops to bottoms to pajamas to flannel bedding.
It was the flannel floral sheets just last month that I heard the JOY in your voice when you grabbed my heart through the phone when you called to thank me.
Anna Maria, my Friend, as my husband, Steve would say to my Mom, June, it was my pleasure and honor.
Please tell my Mom and my husband , Steve that I miss them every minute of every day.
But I am still working on God’s Plan down here.
