Obituary of Richard H. Daillak
Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Richard Daillak passed away unexpectedly Thursday July 20th at the age of 73.
Rich was recently retired from Swiss Re where he had worked for 15 years in the life and health practice. He found his way to that career after a PhD in program evaluation from UCLA and a short stint in academia on his way to becoming an actuary at Met Life, where he met his wife Chris. He was a man of many interests, from photography to American history to mathematics, and he pursued those interests with passion.
For Rich, dedication was the highest virtue. He could be found up at all hours giving his all to the things that mattered to him, whether that was cross country calls when he was courting his wife, all-nighters spent on ORSA reports, or hours spent catching up on abstract algebra so he could talk to his son about his school work. He will be remembered for his warmth, encouragement, and for all those hours of sacrificed sleep.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years Chris, his son Thomas, as well as his brothers, Mike and Bill. An informal service will be held at the family's home on Saturday July 29th at 11am, where people are encouraged to share stories about Rich's life. Rich loved photography, so those who have a favorite photo with him are invited to share a copy with the family in his memory.
