Obituary of Frank Anthony Malabe
Please share a memory of Frank to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with a heavy heart that we announce that Frank A. Malabe passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Cavalry Hospital in New York. He is survived by his mother, Cristina Lopez, his son, Greg Steiner, his daughter-in-law, Caitlyn Wilson-Steiner, his sister, Yvette Franqui, his brother Rio Malabe, his brother-in-law, Gilbert Franqui, and nephews, David Franqui, Elohim Malabe, and Atom Malabe, and will be dearly missed.
Frank was born September, 24 1961 in the Bronx, NY to Frank and Cristina (Muriel) Malabe. He began a relationship with the love of his life, Barbara (Sullivan) Steiner, on August 8, 1988 and the two were eventually married on August 8, 2011 and remained together until she preceded him in death on January 28, 2023. He was a man of many interests and hobbies, a lifelong learner and teacher, and was generous and welcoming to everyone who was lucky enough to know him.
While he made his career as a warehouse manager for Riverbay, music was his true calling. His passion for music was infectious and his talents as a bassist, vocalist and songwriter were second only to the love he shared to the world as a husband, father, son, brother, and friend. His friends and bandmates became a part of his family and the bonds he forged with those he loved are unbreakable, even in death.
