I knew John as the doorman of the building where my daughter lives.
I always looked forward to seeing John when visiting my daughter especially during baseball season.
John and I would commiserate every time the Mets lost and celebrate each time the Mets won.
I will miss John and look heavenward to tell him how the Mets did each time I visit!

My husband, daughter & I often visited friends and stayed at the building where John was the doorman. We enjoyed many conversations of shared Irish roots. He was a wonderful man and will be sorely missed. John, raise a glass with my dad up there, RIP.
A poem I liked when my dad died, someone of the same character as John...
SOMEONE IS MISSING
Let this be a loving reminder, That someone is missing today... Someone our hearts still hold on to, as we travel along life's way. Someone who made life so special, for all those who gather here, someone who won't be forgotten, but cherished from year to year. And now as we pause to remember, let us all fondly recall, how dearly each of us loved him, And oh, how he loved us all!

We send our deepest condolences to the Smith family. Such shocking and terrible news to hear about a wonderful man. The memories with "Big" Sean and the family will be in our hearts and mind. From the times at Coyne Park with McLean Heights watching the children play baseball, being at St. Anthony School, to being part of the trips to the Catskills during the summer, to attending the Baseball picnic and the St. Antony Parish picnic(always sitting next to the statue of St. Patrick), to sharing good times at the apartment, enjoying Thanksgiving with the family, and other milestones. The memories can go on and on but will never be forgotten. Just know that "Big" Sean is now with God in a better place. His spirit will be with us in our hearts. Know that God's love and grace will be with you always and we pray that the light of God's face shines on the Smith family especially Rose Marie and "Little" Sean in the darkness of grief. Heaven has received a new member. May "Big" Sean's soul rest in peace. Let perpetual light shine upon him. You are in our prayers.
God bless,
Anthony, Leslie, Christopher, Matthew, Alicia, and Francis D'Armiento

To Rosemarie and Sean Christopher,
we were very shocked and saddened to hear about Seans sudden death last Sunday. I can still vividly remember the way that both of you looked after us in 1981 when Drumalee visited New York. The stories about that visit and the way we were looked after are part of legend. Sean was the kindest and most easygoing person i ever knew and the manner of his passing is so in keeping with his life - quiet and no fuss! Deepest condolences from all the Costello's in Corglass, Cavan.
Tommy and Maura.
ps Dad also sends his deepest condolences.

We were so sad to hear this unexpected news.Uncle Sean was always someone who would do anything to help people. I was lucky enough to visit New York many times from the 1970's to 1997 and always looked forward to catching up with Sean and Rose Marie. I remember the wedding with bottles of Irish whiskey on the table none of which Sean drank, visits to the Hurling and Irish pubs in the Bronx with my English colleague Dave (who was scared to be there)and the Trots in Yonkers. Sean was always an influence in my life and though we had lost touch in recent years I was devastated to hear of his passing. Condolences to Rose Marie and Sean Christopher and may he rest in peace.
